What Happens in Your First 90 Days After Joining eXp Realty?
By Tyler Roicki, Founder of The Herd at eXp Realty

Your first 90 days at eXp come down to 3 things: getting plugged into the right community, activating every lead source available to you, and getting yourself in front of the agents building on this platform at the highest level. Most of what determines whether an agent's first year goes well gets decided in this window, and it's rarely about talent, it's about whether these 3 things happened on purpose instead of by accident.
Getting Plugged Into the Right Community
This starts before you even submit your application. Who you name as your sponsor, and the organization you're aligning with, is the most important decision you'll make in the entire process of joining eXp. It's worth being deliberate about aligning with a strong sponsor and an established network of senior partners, since that alignment is permanent and shapes how much help you actually have access to from day 1.
Once you're onboarded, actually plugging into that community is what turns it from a name on a form into an actual resource. That's the foundation everything else in your first 90 days builds on, and it's worth treating as a first-week priority, not something you'll get around to eventually.
Activating Every Lead Source Available to You
eXp gives new agents access to several client acquisition channels early on, and most agents never fully activate them. Here's what to knock out first, roughly in order of priority.
Register for FastCAP and complete it. This unlocks 12 months of Realty.com Pro leads, most of them sellers, and these are genuinely high-quality opportunities, not the kind of leads you have to talk yourself into working. FastCAP itself is a structured program, not just a login, so treat completing it as an actual task with a deadline, not something to get to eventually.
Get relocation certified through eXp's Revenew division, and pick up as many additional certifications as make sense for you. Relocation, commercial investment services, affinity programs, each certification is another way business gets sent to you directly from eXp's own corporate accounts, not something you had to generate yourself from scratch. This is one of the most underused parts of the entire platform, agents who complete these certifications early are opting into referral flow that agents who skip this step never see at all.
Get plugged into the eXp referral network. Real opportunities get exchanged daily between agents through eXp Hub and the internal referral platform. Join every applicable referral group for your area on the Hub, and make sure your profile on the referral platform is fully filled out and current, since that's what determines whether you rank when someone's searching for an agent in your market. An incomplete profile is functionally invisible, so this is worth doing properly the first time rather than leaving fields blank to fill in later.
Activate your CRM of choice. Pick one of the 3 options and get it activated, but don't stop there. A database is only as valuable as your communication with it. Every contact sitting in a CRM you're not actually working is just a name doing nothing for you, so treat activation as the starting point, not the finish line.
Get Active on the Platform Itself
Download eXp Hub, including the app, and actually use it. Get familiar with eXp World, since that's where you'll find live support and training when you need it, without waiting on an email response. These aren't optional extras, they're the infrastructure everything else runs through, and agents who skip this step end up rediscovering it months later, after already losing time they didn't need to lose.
Get to a Real Event as Soon as You Can
This is worth doing sooner rather than later. Whether it's eXpcon, the company's biggest event of the year, or a regional rally happening sooner depending on the season, get to the largest event you possibly can within your first 90 days, even if you're brand new and don't feel ready yet. That's actually when it's most valuable, since it's the fastest way to turn a network you've only seen online into actual relationships, and the relationships formed in person tend to be the ones that actually turn into referral sources later.

Then, Build Momentum the Same Way Every Agent Does
Once the platform side is handled, the rest comes down to fundamentals, and this is where most of your actual first-90-days effort should go.
Set specific goals and reverse-engineer them into a daily plan. 3 professional goals, 3 personal goals, specific enough that you'd know clearly whether you hit them. Then work backward from each one: what does today actually need to look like for that goal to stay realistic 90 days from now.
Pick one prospecting method and commit to it. Door knocking, cold calling, open houses, whatever fits you, choose one and go deep instead of spreading thin across several. New agents who sample 4 different methods for a few weeks each almost always end up with less traction than agents who picked one and stuck with it through the stretch where it feels repetitive.
Make it about conversations, not leads. The number that actually predicts your business is actual conversations, not leads sitting untouched in a CRM. You can have a full pipeline of leads and zero business if you never talk to any of them.
Common Questions New Agents Ask
Do I need real estate experience before joining eXp? No. The platform and the certifications above are built to work for brand new agents as much as experienced ones, the FastCAP program and Revenew certifications don't require any prior production history.
What if I don't already know who to name as my sponsor? Start with whoever in your existing network has already provided you genuine value, and if there's no one, look at who you've followed and learned from online. Either is a legitimate answer to who most influenced your decision to join.
How soon should I attend my first big event? As soon as logistically possible within your first 90 days. Waiting until you feel "ready enough" usually just means waiting until you've already missed months of relationship-building you could have had instead.
The Bottom Line
The first 90 days aren't about doing everything. They're about aligning with the right people from day 1, activating every lead source eXp actually gives you instead of leaving most of them dormant, and plugging into the collaborative community of highly productive agents as early as possible. Agents who treat these first 90 days with that kind of intention are the ones who look back a year later with real momentum instead of wondering where the time went.
If you're evaluating eXp and want to see what it actually looks like to build your business aligned with a strong, collaborative community from day 1, that's what herdteam.com is for.
